For all our solo, nervous, anxious or Neurodivergent Flyers (or a combination of all!) Headed to Celestial Events Starfall Ball.

Travelling alone to a big event can be exciting but also overwhelming. Here are some tips to help ease the journey and make the experience smoother from airport to arrival:
If Needed, Wear a Hidden Disabilities Lanyard
This sunflower lanyard discreetly signals to airport and airline staff that you may need extra time, space or assistance — no explanations required.
Bring Noise-Cancelling Headphones or Earplugs
A good pair of noise-cancelling headphones can reduce anxiety and help create a more calming, focused space for you.
Download All Travel Apps Ahead of Time
Check in online, download your airline’s app, and keep boarding passes, maps, and event info saved offline so you’re not searching under pressure.
Write a Simple Travel Itinerary for Yourself
List times, locations, flight numbers, gate info, transport details, and what happens next — even when to eat or rest. Having it written out reduces the need to make decisions under stress.
Bring Comfort Items
Whether it’s a favourite book, a soft scarf or something scented — bring whatever helps you self-soothe and stay regulated.
Pack Snacks and Hydration Essentials
Airport and in-flight food isn’t always sensory-friendly. Bring safe snacks and a water bottle (empty through security) to stay nourished and grounded.
Give Yourself Extra Time
Aim to arrive early. Rushing increases anxiety and can lead to meltdowns or shutdowns. More time = more calm.
Pack a Sensory/Comfort Kit in Carry-On
Include items like sunglasses (for bright lights), lip balm, tissues, chewy snacks, stress balls, fidget rings, or weighted wristbands.
Let Someone Know Your Travel Plan
Even if you’re travelling alone, text a friend or family member your flight times and check in with them before and after. It’s grounding to know someone else knows where you are.
Remember Why You’re Going!
You’re heading to a magical, inclusive space full of people who get you. The Celestial Events Ball is designed with you in mind — a celebration of fantasy, creativity, and acceptance. The journey is just the start of something extraordinary.
Extra Tip: Join the chat groups so you can always post to ask questions if you are lost or need help. Someone will always be able to answer. Then, when you arrive at any of the events, look out for friendly Celestial Events volunteers in yellow high-vis. If you’re feeling lost, just let us know — we’re here to help you feel safe and seen.
You are brave, magical, and going to have a great time! Safe travels!!
